Upcoming Exhibitions & News
I'm very pleased to participate in the following exhibition:
Seeing Oneself in Others
February 27th – April 11th, 2020
Thursday, February 27th, 6–8pm
excerpt from press release:
"Inspired by ancient Buddhist principles of attaining liberation through acts of selflessness, still-life artist Melodie Provenzano devised an exhibition concept that honors this notion. “Instead of making art pertaining to my life, I decided to celebrate the artwork of others, highlighting group harmony.” Provenzano borrowed six sculptures by six different artists working in or around New York City, which she brought back to her studio, studied, and painted from direct observation. Provenzano’s hyper-realistic aesthetic resulted in six, larger-than-life representations of these sculptures, each one unique in size, medium, and style.
Seeing Oneself in Others presents the six paintings Provenzano produced, along with the six sculptures that inspired them, exhibited all together in one space. The sculptors whose works she selected are Jae Yong Kim (Seoul, South Korea), Matthew McCaslin (Bay Shore, NY), Shari Mendelson (Schenectady, NY), Michelle Segre (Tel-Aviv Yafo, Israel), Arthur Simms (District of Cross Roads, Saint Andrew, Jamaica), and Jeanne Tremel (Minneapolis, MN)."
In addition to the 6 sculptures Melodie selected to paint from, the artists will have additional pieces shown in the gallery.
